Higher excitations of the D andDs mesons

The masses of higher DðnLÞ and DsðnLÞ excitations are shown to decrease due to the string contribution, originating from the rotation of the QCD string itself: it lowers the masses by 45 MeV for L 1⁄4 2 (n 1⁄4 1) and by 65 MeV for L 1⁄4 3 (n 1⁄4 1). An additional decrease 100 MeV takes place if the current mass of the light (strange) quark is used in a relativistic model. For Dsð1D3Þ and Dsð2P1 Þ the calculated masses agree with the experimental values for Dsð2860Þ and Dsð3040Þ, and the masses of Dð2S0Þ, Dð2S1Þ, Dð1D3Þ, and Dð1D2Þ are in agreement with the new BABAR data. For the yet undiscovered resonances we predict the masses MðDð2P2ÞÞ 1⁄4 2965 MeV, MðDð2P0ÞÞ 1⁄4 2880 MeV, MðDð1F4ÞÞ 1⁄4 3030 MeV, and MðDsð1F2ÞÞ 1⁄4 3090 MeV. We show that for L 1⁄4 2, 3 the states with jq 1⁄4 lþ 1=2 and jq 1⁄4 l 1=2 (J 1⁄4 l) are almost completely unmixed ( ’ 1 ), which implies that the mixing angles between the states with S 1⁄4 1 and S 1⁄4 0 (J 1⁄4 L) are 40 for L 1⁄4 2 and 42 for L 1⁄4 3.
